A stump can be a decorative rustic seat or a perch for a planter. However, it can also lead to rot and can encourage insects. After most tree removals, the families would rather have flat ground.
Stump grinding allows you to reclaim your yard space and redesign your landscape.
We offer stump grinding as an option after we remove trees — and also as a stand-alone service. If you have unsightly stumps in your yard from prior tree work, give us a call. We’re happy to help.
How Does Stump Grinding Work?
The carbide teeth on our high-powered machine shred the wood into small chips as it grinds the stump down below ground level. Depending on the size of your stump, you might end up with a very large mound of wood chips. We can leave these for you to use in your landscaping, or we can take them away and replace them with good topsoil. Over time, chips will enrich the soil; decomposition rates vary depending on the size of stump and type of wood. It might take well over a year, so you’ll want to think about what you want to do in that area.
What to Do Next:
Planting grass seed can help prevent erosion. If you’re making that area into a lawn, you might want to wait a few weeks to allow the ground to settle. If you plan to replant a tree in approximately the same location, we recommend removing the chips and replacing them with good soil. As always, we’ll work with your needs.
